Kanoa U17 teams bag wins in TakeCare league start

Kanoa Football Club’s U17 girls and boys teams bagged a win each in the season opener of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2024 at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Saturday.

The boys team took on the Women’s Developmental Team and won, 2-0, while the girls team boasted a 10-0 win over Paire FC.

It was an even matchup as the much younger boys team took on the women’s team, but the boys managed to gain an advantage in the 31st minute.

Taher Shakir put them up, 1-0, while the women’s team tried to grasp at a tie-breaker. However, as time wound down, Kanoa dashed the women’s team’s hopes of a comeback as Christian Negara found the back of the net at the 79th minute.

Kanoa held on to win, 2-0, as the women’s team failed to get a goal on board.

Beatrice Gross was the leading scorer for the Kanoa girls team as she collected five goals. Ye Lynn Ha contributed two goals, while Elikristiana Iglecias, Miley Mafnas, Hayven Moteisou, and Aubrey White nipped the net once each.

Their defense also held steadfast as Paire could not get a goal in and succumbed to a 10-goal deficit.

In the other games of the U17 girls division, MP United defeated Shirley’s FC, 5-1, and in the U17 boys division, MP United blanked Latte FC, 7-0.

As for the U12 boys division, Kanoa FC 1 blanked Shirley’s FC, 8-0; Paire FC outgoaled Kanoa FC 2, 2-0; and MP United FC silenced Latte FC, 6-0.

In the U14 girls division, Latte FC slipped past Paire FC, 2-1, and Kanoa shot a goal to win, 1-0 over Shirley’s FC; and in the U14 boys division, Kanoa FC 1 overpowered Shirley’s FC, 11-0, and MP United beat Latte FC, 5-2.
