Kilili endorses Propst as CNMI’s delegate

Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (D-MP) has thrown his support behind the candidacy of Rep. Edwin K. Propst (D-Saipan), who is aiming to succeed him in the U.S. Congress this Nov. 5 general election.

In a video released yesterday by the committee-to-elect Propst, it showed Sablan saying he has decided to endorse and support Propst for the CNMI’s delegate post.

Sablan urged voters to support Propst in order to sustain the same programs that he has championed during his terms.

“I think Congressman Propst can carry that torch. I’m asking you please support and vote for Congressman Propst for next United States delegate to Congress,” Sablan said.

The video also showed Sablan being greeted and entertained by Propst and his wife, Daisy, at their home.

Sablan will not be seeking a ninth term as delegate.

Propst, who is running under the NMI Democratic Party banner, said yesterday in a statement that he is deeply honored to have Sablan’s support.

Propst said Sablan has been the people’s champion for eight terms, or 16 years, in the U.S. House of Representatives. He said he is grateful to have a mentor, a role model, and a friend to guide him along this journey.

“It’s always been about our people. I will do my very best to continue to put our people first as he has done,” Propst said.
