KobES, GES boast wins in elementary soccer
Defending champions Koblerville Elementary School Umangs 1 and both of Garapan Elementary School’s teams boasted wins in the 2024-2025 NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Elementary School Soccer League last Friday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
The Umangs made light work of Brilliant Star School 1, 6-0.
The goals were spread evenly in the first and second half as Liam Palacios got things started in the seventh minute. Palacios found the back of the net again in the 15th minute for a 2-0 game, and he went on to complete the hat-trick in no time just four minutes later for a 3-0 advantage.
The first half came and went without a goal by BSS, despite attempts at the net. The Umangs then took their momentum in the second half, with an opener by Baylyn Mansfield to make it 4-0.
Mansfield nipped the net again 10 minutes later for a commanding 5-0 game. Then, Andrey Ray rounded off the Umangs score to six as they won in an emphatic 6-0 final after BSS failed to get on board.
As for GES Mallards 1, they overpowered the Mount Carmel School Knights 2, 9-0.
Keanu Pangelinan completed the hat-trick by the 33rd minute, then Jacob Borja and Evan Poole put up double goals each, while Leo Li contributed one. They scored four in the first half with five in the second as the Knights could not find the back of the net throughout the game.
GES 2 then took on MCS 1 and won in a much closer matchup, 6-4.
The Knights tried to make for a comeback as they scored their fourth goal in the 40th minute after GES put up all six goals in the 38th, but time wasn’t on their side and were short by two goals as time expired.
The Mallards’ Pritam Roy led the team with five of the six goals, while Adrian Mercado contributed one. Meanwhile, Khoen Torres put up two goals and Thomas Flores scored one for MCS.
In other results that day, William S. Reyes 1 and Saipan Community School ended in a 5-5 draw; Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School 2 powered past WSR 2, 10-1; and GTC 1 silenced San Vicente Elementary School 1, 6-0.
