License fee hiked for pachinko slot machines, poker on Tinian
Gov. Arnold I. Palacios has signed into law a local bill that will increase the local license fee for pachinko slot machines and poker machines on Tinian. He also enacted a local bill that will re-appropriate $87,465 allotted under Tinian Local Law 20-07, and $30,000 allotted under Tinian Local Law 22-04.
Palacios informed Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation chair Sen. Karl R. King-Nabors (R-Tinian) and House of Representatives Speaker Edmund S. Villagomez (Ind-Saipan) that House Local Bill 23-33 is now Tinian Local Law 23-10, and House Local Bill 23-40, Draft 1, is now Tinian Local Law 23-09.
Introduced by Rep. Patrick H. San Nicolas (R-Tinian) on Dec. 27, 2023, House Local Bill 23-33 was unanimously passed on Feb. 28, 2024.
Under the bill, the current annual local license fee of $4,000 for each pachinko slot machine and each poker machine on Tinian will be increased to $6,000.

The bill re-appropriates funds identified as Earned Bond Interest Income collected for the Second Senatorial District in the combined amount of $117,465. Of this amount, $87,465 are unspent amounts allotted under Tinian Local Law 20-07, and $30,000 are unspent amounts allotted under Tinian Local Law 22-04.
Under the bill, the $117,465 are re-appropriated to the Office of the Mayor of Tinian: $50,000 for the Tinian Veteran’s Memorial Park; $37,465 for the Youth Center Tennis Court resurfacing; $15,000 for the San Jose Village Cemetery storage; and $15,000 for the slaughterhouse generator, slab and installation.
