Lopez attends YPL conference on sustainable development in Fiji
Eloise Lopez, a CNMI advocate for sustainable development and ocean conservation, recently participated in the Young Pacific Leaders Regional Workshop held in Fiji.
This event, hosted by the U.S. Embassy in New Zealand, brought together emerging leaders from across the Pacific to discuss and develop strategies for addressing critical regional issues, with a particular focus on sustainable development.
The YPL Regional Workshop serves as a platform for young leaders to exchange ideas, collaborate on innovative solutions, and strengthen their leadership skills. Lopez’s participation underscored her commitment to fostering sustainable development in the CNMI and beyond.
Throughout the conference, Lopez engaged with fellow leaders on a variety of topics including sustainable development goals, ocean conservation, and community empowerment. Her presence at the workshop provided a valuable opportunity to highlight the unique challenges and opportunities facing the CNMI, as well as to share her expertise in environmental stewardship and educational outreach.
“My continuous passion for environmental and public health issues has taught me that there is so much to do and offer to our community. By addressing climate health and improving our community’s well-being, we can make a meaningful impact. What we bring back to our community benefits us all. It’s important to bring back positive changes and learn from these experiences,” said Lopez.
Lopez is currently serving as the social media coordinator for Sargassum Podcast, an environmental agency focused on raising awareness about oceanic issues and promoting sustainable practices. In her role, Lopez manages the agency’s social media platforms, creating and curating content that highlights important environmental topics and engages with the community to foster a deeper understanding of ocean conservation and sustainability.
Previously, Lopez served as one of the Ocean Team leaders for Project HOPE (Friends of the Marianas Trench), where she played a key role in educating students about ocean conservation and fostering environmental stewardship within the CNMI.
Her participation in the YPL Regional Workshop aligns with her ongoing efforts to promote ocean conservation and enhance educational opportunities for youth in the CNMI. Her work with various organizations has been instrumental in advancing environmental awareness and stewardship within the region.
The Young Pacific Leaders program continues to support and empower young leaders across the Pacific, fostering collaboration and innovation to address pressing regional challenges. Lopez’s involvement in this initiative reflects her dedication to creating positive change and contributing to the future of the CNMI and the broader Pacific community. (PR)
