MP United 2 notch wins in women’s soccer
MP United 2’s two teams in the Flores-Pee Luwal (Intermediate) Fall 2023 Dove Women’s League and in the novice division won both of their games at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Sunday.
MP United 2 defeated Shirley’s FC, 5-1, in the intermediate division. Hannah Robertson drew first blood in the 11th for MP United, followed immediately by a goal from Shirley’s Werlly Breakenridge to tie the game up in the 17th minute.
Then, it was back-to-back goals for MP United as Sachi George and Moriah Sablan made it a 3-1 game. The first half came and went without a peep from Shirley’s, while Sablan added another goal in the 42nd minute. The fifth goal came 10 minutes later from Erlinda Shimizu.
In the novice division, MP United 2 blanked Paire FC, 2-0.
MP United’s Brittney Gopez finally broke the silence in the second half for the first goal, while the second and last goal of the game was made by Catalina Dela Cruz four minutes later.
In other results in the intermediate division, Matansa FC silenced Kanoa FC, 3-0; Paire 2 slipped past Paire 1, 1-0; and MP United 1 won over Latte FC, 1-0.
In other results in the novice division, MP United 1 and Matansa FC ended in a scoreless draw and Latte FC beat Shirley’s FC, 2-1.
Premier League
In the first game of the Premier League last Friday, Shirley’s out-goaled MP United, 7-0.
Jannah Casarino had a field day with a completed hat-trick by the 33rd minute, followed by a goal from Jeraldine Castillo for a 4-0 game.
Raven Anderson added one a couple of minutes later, then Melody Johnson made it 6-0. Anderson scored the seventh goal toward the end of the game, while MP United had no chance at the goal.
