MP United brings down foes in Dove League

MP United Football Club dominated their respective divisions in the 2024 Fall Dove Women’s League at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Sunday.

MP United Pink faced off against sister team MP United Blue and was the better club as they blanked them, 5-0, in the A division.

It didn’t take long before the pink team found an opening as Pia Ngewakl put them up early, 1-0, in the fourth minute. From there, both teams exchanged blows, with no result until MPU Pink’s Moriah Sablan doubled their advantage, 2-0, in the 24th.

It was all the pink team from there despite a quiet rest of the first half. However, MPU Pink’s Amy Cabrera slotted one in the 44th to put them up by 3. Then, Ngewakl ran through the pitch like her life depended on it and scored her second goal in the 61st, and capped off their win with a hat-trick just six minutes later.

As for the B Division, MP United Pink doubled Kanoa FC’s score and won, 4-2.

It was a battle of colors as the pink team took on the orange of Kanoa, with MPU Pink’s Kiara Borja splashing their opponents’ goal just two minutes in for a 1-0 lead.

Before Kanoa could retaliate, Britney Gopez made it 2-0 in the 12th. Kanoa put up a fight and finally got something to show for their attacks in the 20th when Christine Noble found the back of the net to cut the lead in half, 1-2.

But the pink team went on to add two more goals for a 4-1 lead. Kanoa’s second goal was their last hurrah from Noble in the 42nd as they failed to produce before time ran out.

Also in the B Division, MP United Blue slipped past Latte FC, 2-1.

The blue team drew first blood just four minutes into the game from a goal by Luisa Camacho, but Latte’s Jaycie Jones tied it up in the 23rd.

It was anybody’s game from there, as the battle for possession and the upper hand raged on for the rest of the matchup—until MPU Blue’s Kimberly Palacios delivered the winning blow in the 63rd minute. They held on to win 2-1, as Latte’s efforts slipped away along with the minutes that dwindled into seconds.

In the other A Division match, Paire shut down Latte, 3-1. In other results of the B Division, Matansa FC 1 and 2 ended in a 2-2 draw, and Shirley’s trounced Paire, 3-0; In the Masters Division, Latte FC slipped past Shirley’s FC, 1-0, and Paire FC out-goaled Matansa, 1-0; in the Marianas Soccer League 2, Old B Bank edged Paire, 2-1; Kanoa silenced Shirley’s, 8-0; and in MSL 1, Matansa overpowered Kanoa, 3-1.
