MVA joins Asia Dive Expo Japan in Tokyo
The Marianas joined diving destinations from around the globe in promoting its world-class diving and other attractions at Asia Diving Expo Japan held last Friday, Oct. 25, through Sunday, Oct. 27, in Tokyo.
ADEX is one of the largest and longest-running diving exhibitions in Asia and attracted an estimated 40,000 participants this year on its 30th anniversary. The three-day event presented diverse activities and attractions, including immersive dive experiences, interactive workshops, marine conservation talks, underwater photography and videography showcases, cutting-edge diving gear displays, and more.
“ADEX is a celebration of the ocean, and the diving attractions on Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and the Northern Islands are second to none in the world in that celebration,” said Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “ADEX is an opportunity for the Marianas to showcase our award-winning offerings —cavern dive Grotto, snorkeling at Mañagaha, extraordinary dive instructors like Megumi Takaku of Blue Palms Dive Service Rota, and many more—that have been recognized throughout the years. With ADEX expanding to Japan for the first time this year, it was an excellent opportunity for the MVA to woo more Japanese divers and ocean-lovers to choose the Marianas as their next overseas travel destination. The dive industry has traditionally been a smaller but more lucrative and environmentally conscious market as they are known to be high spenders with a deeper commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental protection. For the Marianas, Japan has historically dominated this niche market since the founding of our tourism industry almost 50 years ago.”
Over 3,000 show attendees stopped by the MVA booth to get more information about the Marianas. In addition, the MVA conducted a promotional campaign for its Japanese Instagram account, gaining 1,100 new followers over the three-day event.
Direct three-hour flights to Saipan from Tokyo-Narita are operated three times a week by United Airlines. (PR)
