Marianas Eagles and Marianas Lady Eagles clubs held a masquerade-themed event to celebrate their first anniversary last Aug. 25 at Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan.
Twenty lady eagles present were awarded with certificates of appreciation, namely Norlyn P. Cabrera, Josefina C. Camacho, Leilani M. Catungal, Rowena V. Coloma, Mary Grace I. Cruz, Ana Lisa F. Delos Reyes, Elenita P. Duarte, Elena M. Enriquez, Gemma M. Eugenio, Racquel H. Floyd, Donata U. Fronda, Leilanie A. Garcia, Roxanne R. Layugan, Malaya C. Magno, Irene L. Marquez, Marilou P. Masilungan, Mildred P. Pabilando, Adela B. Sanchez, Edilwisa S. Viana and Roxanne R. Layugan.
The Marianas Lady Eagles Club was faced with several challenges during its initial year, including obtaining funding, according to MLEC president Mildred Pabilabdo.
“Many of our members are overseas Filipino workers, making it difficult to coordinate due to individual commitments related to family, work, and other important responsibilities. Like any new organization, we encountered various trials, but our strong bond as sisters kept us united. We built this club with a deep appreciation for one another, creating not only a supportive community but also a name we proudly represent. Despite the hurdles, we demonstrated our resilience during our first anniversary, showcasing the strength of our camaraderie,” said Pabilando.
She said despite the challenges, they have successfully launched several initiatives.
“We organized community outreach programs, held local tournaments, and established partnerships with local businesses to promote sports among young women and men, including a summer billiards camp under the Pacific Amusement and Saipan Billiard Association.”
Pabilando added that the community service they have initiated include assisting the Department of Youth Services with programs like Brain Builder and report child abuse and neglect, a gift-giving event for two schools— Loving Hands Day Care and Golden Harvest International Day Care, hosting a Zumba Marathon Extravaganza, collaborating with nine Zumba instructors to promote health and wellness that featured free health screenings for blood sugar and blood pressure with Ernie Molina of CHCC, and beach cleanups.
The masquerade-themed event was opened with the acknowledgements from MEC club president Edwin Elayda, MLEC president Mildred Pabilando, and Saipan-Guam Eagles district governor Marcelo Masilungan.
“We should continue to develop a deep sense of brotherhood and sisterhood with respect for one another,” said Masilungan.
A video message from the TFOE (PE) est. 1979 National president Jeffrey Maravilla was played during the event.
The chartered Marianas Eagles Club and the Marianas Lady Eagles Club are composed of members from different walks of life, an epitome of the “No High, No Low” organization with the motto of “Service Through Strong Brotherhood.”
The Marianas Eagles Club and Marianas Lady Eagles Club were chartered on June 25, 2023.
