Marianas under tropical storm watch

The National Weather Services in Tiyan, Guam has issued a tropical storm watch for all of the Marianas—Guam, Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

NWS said Tropical Storm Man-yi is moving southwest at 10 mph with winds of 40 mph. The latest forecast from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center showed Man-yi has shifted southward toward Guam and Rota as a tropical storm.

Man-yi remains a small storm and the tropical storm force winds will be felt close to the center. The exact track of Man-yi remains uncertain and parts of the Marianas could see tropical storm force winds while others see much lower winds. Locally heavy rainfall will remain possible for much of the Marianas, especially if a southern storm track verifies. Those in the Marianas should continue to monitor the forecast for updates and additional changes.

Meanwhile, Invest 94W has developed into Tropical Storm 27W north of Yap this evening. TS 27W is moving west-northwest at 18 mph. The effects from 27W have begun to shift away from Yap and the Marianas. The final Special Weather Statement in regards to 27W was sent this afternoon (https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?issuedby=PQ2…).

As always, the latest forecast can be found on NWS website at https://www.weather.gov/gum/. (PR)
