NMI Democrats endorse incumbents, Manny Castro for Saipan Senate
The Central Executive Committee of the Democratic Party of the NMI gathered this month to officially confirm and endorse their incumbents along with current Precinct 2 Rep. Manny Castro.
“I am confident that my experience, passion, and dedication to public service make me an ideal candidate to represent Saipan in the CNMI Senate. I am running under the CNMI Democratic Party because I believe in the values of inclusivity, opportunity, and progress that the party represents,” said Castro.
Castro submitted his letter of intent to the party, and earlier this month, during a gathering in front of family and friends made his announcement to run for Saipan Senate. He has the support of the party along with the support of Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang, House Speaker Edmund Villagomez (Ind-Saipan), and many of his colleagues in the House.
The current lineup for the Democratic banner includes:
Rep. Diego Vincent Fejeran Camacho for Precinct 1
Rep. Denita Kaipat Yangetmai for Precinct 3
Rep. Vicente Castro Camacho for Precinct 3
Rep. Manny Castro for Saipan Senate
Rep. Edwin Propst for NMI U.S. Delegate
Also present during the Central Executive Committee meeting was Delegate Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan (D-MP) who included his vote. Sablan encourages all interested individuals on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota to run for office with the NMI Democrats, and vote for NMI Democrats. Delegate Sablan, who is retiring this year, has publicly endorsed Propst as his successor and has called on families, friends, and supporters to vote for Propst in this year’s mid-term elections on Nov. 5.
All interested individuals looking to run for office under the Democratic Party of the NMI can submit their letters of intent. For more information visit www.nmidems.org and stay updated via @nmidems on Facebook. (PR)
