NMTech to reopen campus after flood recovery efforts

The Northern Marianas Technical Institute has announced the reopening of its Lower Base campus next Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, following its temporary closure due to recent flooding.

After heavy rains caused significant disruptions, a coordinated recovery effort involving faculty, staff, students, and community volunteers has restored the campus to full operational capacity.

NMTech chief executive officer Jodina Attao expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the swift cleanup and restoration.

“The safety and well-being of our students and staff were our top priorities during this recovery process,” Attao stated in a recent memorandum to stakeholders. She extended her appreciation to the NMTech maintenance team, local businesses, industry partners, and volunteers, highlighting their essential roles in ensuring a timely return to regular campus operations.

Students can expect to resume classes and activities on Nov. 6, with no major disruptions to the academic schedule. Attao advised students to monitor their emails for any specific updates regarding course schedules or adjustments that may affect training and certification timelines.

With the reopening of the campus, NMTech is eager to resume its mission of providing technical education and training, undeterred by the recent challenges. Attao also thanked the community for its patience, saying, “We at NMTech, appreciate the patience and understanding of the community throughout this process and look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus next week.”
