No. 9 CNMI riders defend Turkey Cross title
CNMI riders defended their 2022 championship by beating Guam racers again in the 2023 Turkey Cross last November at the Cowtown Race Park.
The home team won eight out of 15 divisions.
Local riders won the Peewee ATV Class (Nakoa Torres), Mini ATV Class (Anelia Igotol), Power Puff Class (Billie Inabo Pangelinan), Big Boys ATV Class (Christian “Hollywood” Camacho), Veterans ATV Class (Greg Clark), Veterans Class (Justis “Cuki” Alvarez), Intermediate Class (Aric Cruz), and Open Expert Class (Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez).
Guam’s seven first place finishes were in the Peewee I Class (Kyan Mayo), Peewe II Class (Royce Butler), Mini I Class (Julian Lane), Mini II Class (Jonathan Aguon), Women’s Class (Marianna Wenden), Novice Class (Kanen Arceo), and Legends Class (Franklin Rios).
CNMI riders will once again defend the title in next year’s Turkey Cross.

The CNMI’s Shane Alvarez, center, raises his Expert Class championship trophy during the awards ceremony for the 2023 Turkey Cross at the Cowtown Race Park. To his right is runner-up Blaze Aiken of Guam and to his left is another Guamanian, Johnny Aguon, who came in third. Alvarez led the Marianas Racing Association’s win against Guam in the event.
