No one’s keeping up with Sherlyn Jones in February ace
Sherlyn Jones won the two-day Refaluwasch Golf Association February Ace of the Month Tournament held last Feb. 10 and 24 at the Kingfisher Golf Links in Talafofo.
The Marianas Health, LLC Homecare Department staff shot a two-round total of net 145 after firing a net score of 73 on Day 1 and 72 on Day 2.
“I was pretty lucky because I was able to control my long shots. Fairways were dry and was also windy,” she said after the win.
Jones said RGA is a like a big family competing against each other, “So, everyone’s always cheering for each other.”
Jones beat out Carl Hocog on a scorecard tiebreak, 34-36.5, for the February plum after the police officer carded a net 72 and net 73—the opposite of Jones’ scores—on the two-round February ace.
Jones’ son, Benjamin Jr., and Manny Mangarero completed the Top 4 of last month’s tourney with their identical scores of 147. The latter, however, lost on a scorecard tiebreak against the former.
The winner of the lowest gross score was Franco Santos with his raw total of 157 (77-80).
Sherlyn Jones went on to dedicate her win in the RGA February tourney to members of CNMI Women’s Golf Association and, of course, her family—Benjamin Sr., Benjamin Jr., and Darion.
In the closest to the pin competition, the winners were Sherlyn Jones, Mangarero, Santos, Loue Tilipao, and Marco Peter.
