Ogo wants bill to establish CNMI Price Council
Rep. Julie Ogo (Ind-Rota) has announced a legislative initiative aimed at addressing the lack of transparency surrounding product pricing in the Commonwealth, with a particular focus on Rota. Recognizing the challenges faced by citizens who struggle to access accurate information about pricing factors, Ogo is drafting legislation to establish a CNMI Price Council through the Office of the Governor.
The proposed CNMI Price Council seeks to promote transparency and accountability in pricing practices, providing residents with the information necessary to make well-informed decisions about their purchases.
By creating a platform for stakeholders to engage in discussions about pricing mechanisms and factors, Ogo aims to empower consumers and alleviate the financial burden caused by high prices, especially in the face of current inflation and escalating shipping and fuel costs. “This legislation is a crucial step toward ensuring that our constituents have access to the information they need to navigate the marketplace with confidence,” said Ogo. “By establishing a price council, we can work toward creating a more transparent and equitable pricing system that benefits all residents of Rota and the broader Commonwealth.”
Through this legislative initiative, Ogo reaffirms her commitment to addressing the concerns of her constituents and advocating for fair and equitable pricing policies. She encourages input and collaboration from all interested parties as the legislation takes shape, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to ensure that the Price Council effectively serves the needs of the people of Rota and the wider Commonwealth.
