Padres, Bandits immaculate in SBL

The Padres and Bandits are immaculate in the 2024 Tan Holdings-SBL after they each nabbed their fourth straight win at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

The Padres first beat the Natives, 16-4, last Monday.

The Padres summoned an otherworldly power in the middle of the game as they scored 10 runs in the third inning. Their lead ballooned from 6-3, to 16-4.

The only sign of life the Natives showed was in the first inning from three runs by Cam Towai, Ben Leon Guerrero, and Keoni Lizama. Their fourth and final run came in the second scored by Towai.

The Padres’ designated hitter did his job and went perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and brought in three RBIs, and scored two runs. The third batter in the order, Tony Salas, was also perfect in the batter’s box and scored two runs and two RBIs. Second in the lineup, J.R. Suel was also perfect in two at-bats with three runs.

On the bump, the Padres’ pitching staff combined for six strikeouts and just seven hits.

Last Tuesday, the Bandits stole the show against Blue Shark, 16-6.

Only two runs came in for Blue Shark by the third inning, with four runs scored in the last. At that point however, it was too late as the Bandits had already scored their 16 runs.

Majority of the Bandits’ runs were made from free passes to the bases as Blue Shark’s pitcher could not properly locate his pitches. The Bandits took advantage and cleared the bases from RBI base hits that left Blue Shark’s pitcher reeling.

In the standings behind the Padres and Bandits are the Falcons at three wins and no losses. The Cardinals have four wins and one loss; the Royals are at 3-2; the Braves and Blue Jays have an even 2-2 record; Sandlot are at 2-1; the D-9er’s are 1-2; and the Bears have a 1-3 record.
