Paire, Matansa bag wins in soccer leagues

Paire Football Club bagged a win against Latte FC in the 2024 Fall Dove Women’s League A Division, while Matansa FC opened up the Marianas Soccer League with a win over the Men’s Development Team at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville

Last Wednesday, Paire doubled Latte’s score and won, 4-2.

Latte had the advantage early after a 1-0 run by Khristelle Itaas in the sixth minute. Both teams then worked the pitch to no results until the 30th minute when Sharlette Casil tied it all up, 1-1.

It went one way after that as Paire’s Jannah Casarino shot a goal in the 53rd, and doubled it just three minutes later for a 3-1 lead. Latte’s Tamia Kileleman-Hix then made a last ditch effort at the net and found an opening in the 59th to come up within one, 2-3.

Martha Culp let Paire run away with the lead in the 61st after another goal, then that was all they wrote as Latte could not produce anymore.

Last Sunday, Matansa shut out the Men’s Development Team, 5-0.

Both teams were evenly matched as the first half came and went without anyone scoring a goal. Multiple attacks were made on both ends but to no avail, but everything changed in the second half. There, it was all Matansa as they broke the game open with a goal in the 47th by Tanapon Unsa.

Unsa then scored another goal just two minutes later, followed by Yoshi Mafnas to make it 3-0. Unsa completed the hat-trick 10 minutes after his first goal and Matansa had a 4-0 lead.

The Men’s Development Team was shut down for the rest of the game but not without a lack of effort. It was just too little, too late to play catch up with time running down quickly, and Mafnas ripped his second goal in the 75th which rounded up the final score, 5-0.

In other results last Sunday in the Dove Women’s League A, Shirley’s FC nipped one goal which was enough to win over Kanoa, 1-0; MP United FC Pink blanked sister team MP United FC Blue, 4-0; in Division B, Matansa FC 2 won over Paire, 3-2; Shirley’s FC 1 slipped past Matansa FC 1, 1-0; Shirley’s FC 2 silenced Latte FC, 2-0; and in the Masters Division, Paire edged Matansa, 2-1; Latte FC overpowered Shirley’s, 5-0.
