Palacios signs 2 Tinian appropriation bills into laws

Gov. Arnold I. Palacios has signed two Tinian local bills into laws to appropriate $94,091 and $114,000 for the personnel and operations of the , and from revenues collected from poker fees on Tinian, respectively.

Palacios informed last week Sen. Karl R. King-Nabors (R-Tinian), who chairs the Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation, and House  Speaker Edmund S. Villagomez (Ind-Saipan) of his signing of House Local Bill No. 23-64, D1 into Tinian Local Law No. 23-16, and House Local Bill No. 23-63, D1 into Tinian Local Law No. 23-17.

The two bills, authored by Rep. Patrick H. San Nicolas (R-Tinian), were unanimously passed by the TAALD last Sept. 13.

House Bill No. 23-64, D1 proposes to appropriate $80,000 to the TCGCC for personnel and $14,091 to the TCGCC for operational expenses. The $94,091 is a local revenue.

The chairman of the TCGCC and/or his designee is the expenditure authority for the $94,091.

House Bill No. 23-63, D1 proposes that out of $114,00 in total revenues collected from Tinian from the poker fees, $6,000 will be appropriated to Tinian Municipal Council for operations, $5,000 to TAALD for operations, $80,000 to the Tinian mayor for personnel and operations, and $23,000 to the Tinian mayor’s discretionary account.

The expenditure authority of the $6,000 shall be the chairman of the Tinian Municipal Council, while for the $5,000 shall be the TAALD chairman.

The expenditure authority of the $80,000 and $23,000 shall be the Tinian mayor.
