Pitcher Villagomez still atop stats race
As of July 19, Cardinals pitcher K.J. Villagomez is still atop the pitching rankings, while in the batters’ box, Harry Nakamura found himself back in first place in the 2024 Tan Holdings-Saipan Baseball League.
Villagomez sports the only 0.00 ERA and 0 earned runs among all pitchers. He has a 3-0 record in three games and 16 innings pitched, with just nine hits against him.
Second is the Blue Jays’ Beji Palacios with a 0.53 ERA, two ER, seven games pitched in 26.2 innings, gave up 14 hits, and also has a 3-0 record. Third is the Royals’ Jason Reyes at 0.77 ERA, one ER, four games and 18.1 innings pitched, 12 hits against him, and a 1-2 record.
Still on the bump, Palacios has registered the most strikeouts so far with 36. The Bandits’ Jose Lizama Jr. is right behind at 33; Reyes has 25; Aaron Camacho and Jylon Sablan have 24 each; Jeffrey Lizama is at 23; Villagomez has 22; R.J. Riungel has 19; and Gloyd Martin Jr. has 18.
In slugging, Nakamura is the lead batter with the highest batting average of .650 from 13 hits out of 20 plate appearances.
The Blue Jays’ Frankie Lieto is second at .611 from 11 hits out of 18, and third is the Bears’ Jeremy Lizama at .556 from 10 out of 18 at-bats.
Nakamura also leads the RBIs category with 12. Second with 11 is Nokki Saralu; Brian Camacho, Giovanni Mira, and Patrick Tenorio have nine each; and Byron Kaipat, Eli Aughenbaugh, Poland Masaharu, Tony Tenorio, and Franco Nakamura have eight each.
For the most runs scored, Masaharu leads with 19. Jerald Cabrera and Saralu have 17 each; Lamarc Iguel has 16; Auriel Mendiola has 15; and Franco has 14.
Masaharu also leads the triples category with two. Meanwhile, Alfred Manglona, Ben Lizama, Derrence Diaz, Aughenbaugh, Jonah Flores, Cabrera, Kaipo Dikito, Niko Martin, Saralu, Pat Tenorio Jr., Tonchu Norita, Travis Malwebug, Frankie Lifoifoi, Jeremy, Henry Aguon, and Larsen Sibetang have one each.
As for doubles, Brian Camacho has six; Harry Nakamura, J.P Sablan, and Ton Salas have three each; and 10 other players are tied with one.
For home runs, only Ben Flores, Dennis Cabrera, Aughenbaugh, Jesus Iguel, and Tony Tenorio have hit one each.
In the team standings, the Falcons lead with an 8-1 record; the Cardinals are next at 7-2; Bandits and Padres are at 6-2; Sandlots has a 6-3 record; Braves is at 5-3; Blue Jays is right above .500 at 5-4; Royals are at an even 4-4; Bears have a 4-5 record; D-9er’s and White Sox are at 2-6; the Natives have yet to win at eight losses; and Blue Shark have lost all their games so far at nine losses.
