Police probe gunshots in Achugao
The quiet neighborhood of Achugao was jolted yesterday afternoon by the sound of gunshots, leading to a rapid response from local law enforcement.
According to Department of Public Safety assistant chief of police and acting public information officer Simon T. Manacop, dispatch received gunshots reports in the area yesterday afternoon.
Manacop shared that witnesses recounted to officers hearing approximately five gunshots and observed a red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck pulling up to an abandoned residence shortly before the shots were fired. It was confirmed by witnesses that following the incident, the same vehicle was seen leaving the scene.
Despite a swift response from officers, the responsible party still remains unidentified, and the case is now an open investigation, according to DPS. The good news is that as of now, no injuries have been reported.
“The case remains active and will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Bureau for further investigation,” stated Manacop.
As the investigation continues, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities as DPS works to resolve this case and ensure the safety of the community.
