Propst concedes

Democratic Party of the Northern Mariana Islands delegate candidate Edwin K. Propst has conceded defeat to CNMI Republican Party bet Kimberlyn King-Hinds.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Propst congratulated King-Hinds and wished her the best.

“Congratulations to Kim King-Hinds, delegate-elect. I wish you the very best. To my amazing committee, I cannot thank you enough for your hard work and support. To our supporters, thank you for your votes, messages of support, donations, and kindness. To Daisy and Kiana, Devin, Kaden, and Logan, I love you more than anything in this world. Thank you for always being there for me,” he said.

As of 2:30am, King-Hinds has garnered a total of 4,500 votes, while Propst garnered 3,787. As of press time, the Commonwealth Election Commission continues to tabulate absentee ballots and Northern Islands ballots. The CEC resorted to manual tabulation of absentee ballots after a handful of ballots were rejected by the tabulation machine due to being wet or folded.
