Rotary announces $160K in scholarships available

Rotary Club of Saipan announced that the Rotary International District 2750 Global Grant for the Pacific Basin Group is making available $160,000 in college scholarships for the 2025-2026 Rotary year.

According to Rotary of Club Saipan president Joann Aquino, there will only be four grant scholarship awardees and each scholar will be paid $40,000 for round-trip airfare for one person in economy class, tuition, course materials, lodging equivalent to a dormitory with double occupancy, and food for university cafeteria level.

It will be available for college students from Rotary Club’s Pacific Basin, which includes Guam, Saipan, Micronesia, and Palau.

The purpose of the scholarship is to support scholars who wish to contribute to the world in the fields of Rotary Club’s seven areas of focus. The scholars shall serve the role of a bridge between the sponsoring country and the hosting country, bringing interaction of Rotary clubs with communities.

The grant’s eligibility requirements include courses related to the following subjects—peacebuilding and conflict prevention; disease prevention and treatment; water, sanitation, and hygiene; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; community economic development, and environment. MBA applicants are not eligible.

In addition, the grant’s eligibility is open to those who have completed or are expected to complete a university course by April 2025, applicants for a graduate-level educational program for Fall 2025 enrolment, and accommodation in the area of admitted educational institutions with quick access to the hosting Rotary district. The eligibility also includes having a permanent or present residential address in Rotary International District 2750 and a student at a university or a graduate school or have a full-time job in Rotary International District 2750.

The program has no restrictions on gender, marital status, or age. The applicant must have obtained a level of language proficiency, which is a condition for admission to graduate school. He/she must have a permanent or present residential address in Rotary International District 2750.

Current Rotarians, employees of clubs, districts, other Rotary entities, or Rotary International; spouses, children or grandchildren by blood, legal adoption, or marriage without adoption; the spouses of those children or grandchildren, or parents or grandparents by blood of people listed above and employees of agencies, organization, or institutions that partner with Rotary International or the Foundation; former Rotarians and people who the familial relationships with former Rotarians described above; and those who have already enrolled in the educational institution of their choice are not eligible to apply for the grant.

To apply for the grant, the country or region of the school location has to have a Rotary Club. The application has to have the name of the graduate school the candidate has the acceptance letter from or is to apply to. If you do not have an acceptance letter as of the interview day, you must submit it to the interviewer by April 15, 2025. A delay may lead to disqualification.

Applicants need to fill out an application form through rid2750.org or any Rotary club near your home or place of work. The Rotary club you sent the application will be the sponsor club.
