SBL Masters League starts tomorrow

The 2024 Saipan Baseball League Master’s League season starts this Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

There are six teams vying for the title this season, with last season’s champions Pirates back and ready to defend their title.

There are two new master’s teams—Brewers and Falcons, and returning teams Dodgers, Blue Jays, and Marlins.

Games are played every 6:30pm. The first game tomorrow is set between the Pirates and the Dodgers. The next game is on Thursday between the Falcons and Brewers, and on Friday, the Blue Jays take on the Marlins.

After that, games are played every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The post season is slated for February 10, 11, 17, and 18, with the best-of-three championship series on Feb. 24, 26, and 28 if needed.

SBL board member Shine Tenorio said of the upcoming league that it’s “Looking to be a great season with teams pretty balanced. Pirates looking to repeat as last season’s champion. [It’s] just good to see the older guys on the field. [It] provides an opportunity for guys in their late 30s and up to play organized baseball. This season, players are eligible if they were born on calendar year 1985.

He then thanked Tan Holdings and the Northern Marianas Sports Association for their continued support of SBL and for the use of the facilities.
