SMO apologizes for road conditions, seeks community support to address challenges

The Saipan Mayor’s Office is apologizing to the community regarding the current state of defective and broken roads across the island.

Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” B. Camacho acknowledges the inconvenience this has caused residents and assures the public that efforts are ongoing to address and repair the roads as quickly as possible.

“We understand the frustration our community is experiencing due to the road conditions, and I want to personally apologize for the inconvenience this has caused,” he said. “My top priorities are a safe community, a safe village, and a clean island, thus, the safety of our people and ensuring reliable access for emergency services is critical. My team and I are ready to mobilize equipment and begin the necessary repairs, but we are facing significant challenges due to delays in the release of corals from the quarry, which is under the purview of the Department of Public Lands.”

Camacho is asking for the community’s support and understanding as the office works to find a solution.

“I urge the public to join me in calling for the governor’s assistance to help expedite the release of the needed materials—the materials that belong to you, the people of the Saipan. With your backing, we can work together to ensure that the necessary resources are secured and that road repairs can begin without further delay.” (PR)
