SNILD confirms three SHEFA board nominees

The Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation confirmed Wednesday the re-appointment of Kaelani Marie B. Demapan and Henry Kyle B. Hofschneider, as well as the appointment of Guadalupe A. Ingham, to serve on the board of the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance.

Nineteen SNILD members present at the session voted to adopt the SNILD Judiciary and Governmental Operations Committee’s reports that recommend confirming the re-appointment of Demapan and Hofschneider to continue serving on the SHEFA board.

Eighteen SNILD members voted “yes” and Rep. Blas Jonathan T. Attao (Ind-Saipan) voted “present” to a motion to adopt the committee’s report that recommended confirming the appointment of Ingham.

Reps. Ralph N. Yumul (Ind-Saipan) and Joseph Flores (Ind-Saipan) were absent but excused from the session.

According to its reports, the SNILD JGO Committee is confident that all appointees possess the qualifications and leadership skills necessary to serve as members of the SHEFA board, based on the overall assessment of their credentials, experiences, testimonies, goals for the board, and other relevant issues considered.

Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Jose Blas Camacho reappointed Demapan and Hofschneider last Aug. 31 to continue serving the board. The mayor appointed Ingham last Nov. 7.

Acting Saipan mayor Carmen Cabrera Pangelinan thanked the delegation for confirming the three nominees, saying they have been entrusted by the mayor for their administration of the SHEFA program.
