Savory Cafe & Bistro marks 4th anniversary
The fourth anniversary celebration of Savory Cafe & Bistro in Middle Road, Garapan was celebrated by a packed crowd last Friday night.
It was April of last year when they moved to their new location from Beach Road.
Jennifer Elayda, who owns Savory Cafe & Bistro, says that their uniqueness lies in treating customers like family. “We stand out because we treat our customers like family. We do our best to provide them a comfortable and homey dining experience, creating a warm and welcoming environment.”
Elayda referred to managing the economic downturn on Saipan due to fewer tourists as a highly challenging task.
“Because of the economic situation on Saipan, we depend on our local and regular customers. Our loyal customer base and commitment to providing excellent service have been one of the ways we maintain stability during times of economic downturns.’
The restaurant was blessed by Fr. Ray Rosal before the door opened to guests. Former representative Angel Demapan and his wife were among the special guests.
The guests paid an entrance of $14.99, which consisted of dinner and a raffle ticket.
Following dinner, Savory’s regular emcee, Malou Lambat, hosted the program, and previous champions of Savory Karaoke Star, opened the show with a song number.
Savory Cafe & Bistro holds the Savory Got Talent competition every year as their annual anniversary celebration, as they treat both their customers and staff like family. “We make sure that we show appreciation to our staff because of the hard work and effort they put in,” Elayda said.
Four employees of Savory Cafe & Bistro competed for the Savory Got Talent. Savory waitstaff Shary Rabana, a 30-year-old who sang Vanessa Williams’ “Colors of the Wind” was awarded first place and earned $300. The second-place winner was Harold Laguna, baker at Savory, who won $200. Another waitstaff, Arvie Musni, placed third and won $100. Ernie Molina and Shine Vizcarra served as judges.
The highlight of the program was the awarding of winners for the Like & Share promo that started on June 13 and ended at 2pm on June 28. To participate in the promo, customers were required to dine-in and take pictures of their favorite food and share them on social media, either on Facebook or Instagram. Additionally, they were required to tag Savory and five of their friends with the hashtag savoryatfour. The most likes and shares will win.
Annalou Tangcalacan took first place with her post, which received 506 likes and 3,200 shares, winning the 40” Smart TV.
Tangcalan, 8 years old, said in the interview with Saipan Tribune, “I received those likes and share from my family and friends, I never stop reminding them to share that even my husband and children stayed up late with me but it’s all worth it.”
With 311 likes and 2,500 shares, Chelly David came in second place and got a gift certificate for a staycation at Saipan World Resort.
Melca Javellana Austria finished third with 248 likes and 1,500 shares and was awarded a Bluetooth speaker.
An impromptu jam session was also part of the program, where nine members of the audience participated and were judged by the audience’s clapping. Jenna Jaye and Alyanna Rotap won the contest.
Dancers from the Zumba group Xtreme Fitness 670 performed during the competition, and the raffle prize draw concluded the program.
Elayda would like to invite the community of Saipan to join the Savory Karaoke Star Season 4 this July. This activity offers entertainment and a sense of relief or composure for our customers who regularly go through obstacles in life.
