Shoreline repairs to commence at Outer Cove Marina

This Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, work will begin to address the erosion of the shoreline revetment at the Outer Cove Marina. Construction will take place in phases and is expected to continue into 2025.

The National Park Service takes continued access to the marinas by the community very seriously and will work with the contractors and local government to limit as much as possible any reductions in accessibility.

This initial phase will include the establishment of a site office across from the southern end of the Smiling Cove Marina parking lot. In addition, a small section of the southern area of the marina parking lot will be reserved for the project team.

At the Outer Cove Marina, the edge of Marina Lane where it is widest will be closed as a staging area for equipment. During construction, all roads will remain open with contractors providing traffic control. For everyone’s safety, the community is asked to drive slowly throughout the marinas, to be aware of the project team working in the area, and to follow their guidance in areas that are closed or restricted.

American Memorial Park will work to ensure that the public is kept apprised of changes in accessibility to the area and the progress of the project. Thank you for your understanding. Maps of the project and restricted areas may be found at the Visitor Center. (NPS)
