Sky-high Falcons remain untouched in SBL

The sky-high Falcons are still untouched atop their first-place perch in the 2024 Tan Holdings-Saipan Baseball League after their eighth straight win last Tuesday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

The boys from the north side made light work of Sandlot, 12-2, as their bats and their pitching continued to scorch the diamond.

Sandlot pitching was no match to the Falcons’ firepower early on as they could not get out of the second inning. After two runs scored for the Falcons in the first, they were hungry for more and pummeled Sandlot’s pitcher and defense with hard hit balls.

Falcons’ Ian Norita started the onslaught with a single and was immediately brought home on an RBI triple by Henry Aguon. Giovanni Mira then reached on an error and tore through the bases to make it to third.

J.J. Lifoifoi then took advantage of the runner in scoring position and walked—to put Jonathan Norita in the perfect place for RBIs. he scored two off a single to make it 6-0. Then, two more runs would score for a 9-0 game as Sandlot’s pitching and defense continued to crumble.

When Sandlot finally had their turn at the plate, they snuck two runs in to make it 2-9.

However, that was all they wrote as Falcons pitcher I.J. Teigita pitched a complete-game gem and held them down. The Falcons’ offense wasn’t done yet either after their second inning stretch, and they scored three more in the fourth.

When Sandlot failed to produce, the game was called off due to run-mercy ruling.

In the standings behind the Falcons are the Cardinals with a record of 7-2; Padres are next at 5-1; Braves and Sandlot are both 5-3; Bandits are 4-2; Royals are at an even 4-4; Blue Jays are 3-4; Bears are 4-5; D-9er’s and White Sox both are 2-5; Natives have no wins and seven losses; and Blue Shark are at nine losses.
