Soccer coaching seminar on Aug 30 and 31

A two-day soccer coaching seminar with Japan’s U17 national team coach—Takahiro Suzuki—is set for Friday, Aug. 30, and Saturday, Aug. 31.

Friday’s seminar is from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Oleai Sports Complex, while Saturday has two sessions. The morning session is from 9am to 11am at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville, while the afternoon 1:30pm to 3:30pm session is at the Oleai Sports Complex.

Suzuki, along with being Japan’s U17 national team coach, is also a U14 Elite Program coach, and Japan Football Association’s Regional Youth Development chief in Hokkaido.

The seminars will feature World Frontline Football-Japan Way presentation, practical session, training planning, and youth development.

It is open and free to all interested coaches.

NMI National Team head coach Konomi Suzuki said that having this seminar here is a great opportunity.

“Considering the environment in the CNMI, we don’t have so many opportunities to have some learning from outside of the country unless we go overseas,” she said. “It will be beneficial to have a professional coach from Japan who has really excellent experiences. He has various kinds of coaching experiences from grassroots to the U15 Japanese national team. Therefore, regardless of the categories, a lot of coaches will be able to learn from him.”

She added that she was coached by Takahiro when she was in junior high school with Japan National Women’s Football Team captain Saki Kumagai. Konomi said of that time, “All of us in that team really enjoyed the time with him.”
