Sunny on fire in September tourney
Hyun “Sunny” Son followed up her win in July by winning the CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s September monthly tournament last Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Coral Ocean Resort in Agingan.
The 55-year-old owner of Boss Karaoke overpowered the field with an eye-popping net score of 63.
Son finished with an excellent gross score of 77 after the 14-handicapper came away with a 39 in the front nine and a 38 in the back nine.
“The weather was a little hot that day, but the course was very good. My best hole is the 12th hole because it is a difficult hole for me, but I managed to par with two on without difficulty. The difficult hole for me is the eighth hole This is because the tee shot in the newly made tee box was shaking,” she said, while sharing the honor of winning the September monthly tournament to CWGA members.
Kim Sae Hee and Lydia Tan completed the Top 3 in the September competition with net scores of 69 and 71, respectively.
Hee shot a gross score of 80 following pre-handicap scores of 38 in the first nine holes and 42 in the last nine. Tan, for her part, carded a gross of 91 after the 20-handicapper fired 44-47 in the splits.
