Tatagas swim to top of Bracket 3 of co-ed tourney
Shuttlers of Tanapag Middle School Tatagas swam to the top of Bracket 3 in the 2024-2025 PSS-NMBA Interscholastic Co-ed Middle School Badminton League last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
After three days of round-robin matches, the Tatagas shuttled their way to first place in the standings with a total of 14 points. With that, they knocked down Grace Christian Academy—who were first place after opening day, to second place with 9 points. Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr. High School Bucks is in third place with 8; Francisco M. Sablan Middle School Napu Riders has 6; and Dandan Middle School Tottots are last with 3.
This time, the Tatagas took on the Tottots and swept all five events.
The Tatagas, which is made up of Kyria Ngiraked, Rhian Pascua, Rhiana Macalinao, Timmy Licda, Kyara McCale, Brayden Otiwii, Pryce Cadag, Rhyane Umali, Evan Seguritan, and Juan Tenorio, won the boys/girls doubles, boys/girls singles, and mixed doubles events for five points on the day.
They then went up against the Bucks and had another near sweep with four out of five matches won.
They overpowered the Bucks in the girls/boys singles, boys doubles, and mixed doubles for four points, but handed the Bucks’ lone point in the girls doubles event.
The final round-robin day of games is on Saturday, Nov. 16. The Top 6 double elimination round is on Nov. 23, with the championship rounds on Nov. 29.
