Tropical Storm Condition III maintained for Saipan, Tinian, Rota

Acting governor David M. Apatang, in consultation with the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the National Weather Service’s Weather Forecast Office, has maintained Tropical Storm Condition III for the islands of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota as of 5am this morning, Sept. 11, due to Tropical Depression Bebinca.

Star Marianas, Inc. also cancelled its flights to Rota and Guam today due to inclement weather caused by the passing of Tropical Depression Bebinca.

The inter-island carrier said forecasted winds and wind direction exceed safe operating limitations for its aircraft, Flights between Saipan and Tinian are suspended this morning, but may resume later today if conditions allow. Star Marianas said it will provide an update by noon today regarding the status of Saipan-Tinian flights.

Northern Marianas College, meanwhile, asks its students and employees to take precautionary measures and prepare for heavy winds, rain, and flooding. Further updates will be provided when available.
