Tryouts for 3×3 hoops Mini Games team
This Thursday and Friday, the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation is hosting tryouts for a 23U men’s and 23U women’s 3×3 basketball team for the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Palau.
The tryouts will be held at the Koblerville Gymnasium at 5:30pm on both days.
Players have to be between 18-23 years old, must be born in the CNMI, and have a U.S. passport.
The Pacific Mini Games 3×3 is following FIBA rules and regulations.
The Pacific Mini Games is slated for June 29-July 9, 2025 in Koror, Palau.
The last 3×3 competition that NMI competed in was the 3×3 FIBA Asia Cup in Singapore last March.
The women’s team was made up of Kaia Travilla, Jan Travilla, Mikki Kautz, and Madeleine Alegre, while the men’s team consisted of Preston Basa, Jack Lizama, Douglas “Spider” Schmidt, and Coby Santos.
Before that, the last time the NMI joined a 3×3 competition in a Pacific Mini Games was in 2017 in Vanuatu. It was made up of Lizama, Basa, Schmidt, and Dan Barcinas.
