Undefeated Ayuyus lead boys fast pitch

Kagman High School Ayuyus varsity fastpitch softball team is undefeated heading into the playoffs of the PSS-NMI Softball Association Interscholastic Boys High School Fast Pitch Softball League 2024-2025.

They notched their fifth straight win to wrap up their regular season games last Saturday over their junior varsity counterpart, 13-4, at the Dandan Softball Field.

The varsity boys started the game off hot as they got on board at the bottom of the first from two runs scored by Myles Remoket and Justin Camacho. They still held the lead despite one run from the JV’s Anthon Tudela in the second for a 2-1 game.

Then, the varsity team caught fire once again at the bottom of the second with seven back-to-back runs, plus one more to widen their lead, 10-1. The varsity team held their comfortable nine-run lead, but they added three more for good measure in the fourth to make it 13-1.

It was too little too late for the JV team to play catch up as Austin Camacho scored in the fourth for a 2-13 game. While the varsity team didn’t score, it was too big of a gap to bridge with two more innings left.

The JV team still tried, however, as the top of the lineup’s Kallan Seilder hit a two-run homer for a 4-13 game. Their rally cry was then cut short as the varsity team’s pitching went on to retire the next three batters and notch their fifth straight win.

In other results that day, Saipan Southern High School Manta Rays slipped past Marianas High School Dolphins, 10-9, and Mount Carmel School Knights trounced Saipan International School Geckos, 16-10.

In the last regular season game last Monday, SSHS notched their third win as they beat KHS JV, 21-9.

KHS leads with their five wins, while MHS, SSHS, and MCS are all tied up with three wins and two losses each. SIS hasn’t won a game with five losses, while KHS JV are 1-4.

The championship tournament is set from Thursday, Oct. 10, to Saturday, Oct. 12.
