VOTM to showcase young voices in ‘Harmony in the Community’
To celebrate and showcase the young voices in our community, the Voices of the Marianas and the Save the Music Foundation-CNMI is set to host the “Harmony in the Community,” a young talent singing celebration on Nov. 16, 2024 at the Kagman Community Center.
The event, set to begin at 11am that day, is aimed at bringing together budding singers from across Saipan and offers a platform for young talents to showcase their vocal skills in front of the community for a prize of $100. According to a press release from the Voices of the Marianas, the competition divides participants into three levels—elementary, junior high, and high school. Singers can pick from two categories—local/island songs and mainstream songs. At the end, the winners of each category will each receive $100. VOTM also noted that a parent or legal guardian must be present with the child during the event.
With no entry fees, the contest has made participation accessible to all young singers and the deadline to register is on Nov. 8, 2024.
The Voices of the Marianas shared that the event was originally set for Oct. 26, but has since been rescheduled to Nov. 16, they are inviting all interested participants to email voicesofthemarianas@gmail.com to register. VOTM shared that, as part of their goals, they want to give an opportunity for youth in the CNMI to express themselves and connect through music.
