WEATHER UPDATE: TC3 maintained for Marianas
Tropical Storm Bolaven is moving northwest. A typhoon watch remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan.
Based on information received from the National Weather Service in Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point, as of 7am today, Bolaven isbout 455 miles east-southeast of Rota, about 460 miles east-southeast of Guam, and about 465 miles southeast of Tinian and Saipan, with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.
At 7am today, the center of Tropical Storm Bolaven was located near latitude 10.9 degrees north and longitude 151.1 degrees east. Bolaven is moving northwest at 8 mph. It is expected to turn slightly toward the west-northwest with a slight increase in forward speed over the next 24 hours.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to 60 mph. Bolaven is forecast to intensify through Tuesday afternoon, possibly becoming a typhoon.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 70 miles.
Typhoon Condition 3 is maintained for Saipan, Tinian, Rota. This means that damaging winds of 39 mph or more are possible Tuesday morning and typhoon force winds of 74 mph or greater are possible Tuesday afternoon or evening.
