Council lauds student for AG’s Cup win

The Third CNMI Association of Municipal Councils Inc. recently adopted a resolution commending Grace Christian Academy student Nicole Manglona Torres for winning second place in the 21st AG’s Cup Speech Competition.

The 21st edition of the Attorney General’s Cup Speech Competition was held on May 6, 2004.

The contestants were Marianas High School student Sarah Blalock; Kagman High School student Laura Bucher; Marianas Baptist Academy student Carla D. Calvo; Tinian High School student Majorie Daria; Calvary Christian Academy student Yveth Mafnas; Rota High School student Iven Mereb; Saipan Southern High School student Amy Paul; Mount Carmel High School student Jeffery P. Sanchez; and GCA’s Torres.

The judges were Lt. Gov. Diego T. Benavente; House legal counsel Jose A. Bermudes; Younis Art Studio operations manager Laila Younis Boyer; special assistant for political and regional affairs Bertha Deleon Guerrero; Youth Affairs director Florence S. Kirby; legislative assistant Joey San Nicolas; and Rota DPS Capt. Ricardo Taimanao.

The overall champion in the 21st AG’s Cup Speech Competition was MCS student Sanchez. GCA’s Torres walked away with second place; while MBA student Calvo settled at third place.

The resolution was certified by association president Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and vice president Jude U. Hofschneider and was attested by secretary Mametto M. Ayuyu.
