Council lauds local soldier
The 8th Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council adopted a resolution congratulating and commending Army Private First Class Brandon R. Camacho for his courage, bravery and determination to uphold the U.S. Armed Forces’ goal to secure peace, freedom and democracy in Iraq.
The resolution says that the U.S. Armed Forces declared war on Iraq’s dictator Saddam Hussein to destroy weapons of mass destruction, to deter his acts of terrorism and for the people of Iraq to enjoy freedom, peace and democracy.
The resolution further says that many men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces were deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and other dangerous posts to secure global peace, freedom and democracy.
The CNMI men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces who were wounded or killed in action in Iraq; Afghanistan and other dangerous posts were U.S. Army Sergeant Yinjyh “Eddie” Leng Chen, the first CNMI Casualty in Iraq; U.S. Army Sergeant William Ayuyu Sakisat (Jr), wounded in Afghanistan; U.S. Army Sergeant Nazario San Nicolas Borja (Tinian), wounded in Iraq; U.S. Army Specialist Gregory Cabrera Cing (Tinian), wounded in Iraq; and U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dustin M. Pangelinan, wounded in Iraq;
Camacho was deployed to Iraq on April 1, 2003. While in Iraq, Camacho was an infantryman. He is the proud son of Summer Holiday Hotel owners Vicente “Ben” Cabrera Camacho and Cynthia Bower-Camacho of Saipan.
The Resolution ended by saying that the members of the Municipal Council join the people of the CNMI in extending special recognition, congratulation and commendation to Camacho for safeguarding and protecting the lives of his fellow Americans.
The resolution was certified by chairman Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and vice chairman David A. Indalecio and attested by secretary Antonia M. Tudela.
