The rain held off just long enough to allow for the men and women to compete in the 14th Annual CNMI National Track and Field Championships this past Saturday, and for the first time the athletes were able to utilize the first class facility in competition.

Many familiar names were the first to cross the line as the sprinters lined up for the 60m, 100m, 200m, and 400m, while the mid and long distance runners showcased their talents in the 800m, 1500m, and the 5000. Jovannie Sablan dominated the women’s field, sprinting her way ahead of the pack in the 60m (8.48), 100m(14.35), 200m (31.20), and the 400m (1:12.16). Following Sablan every step of the way was Nicole Lebria who finished second in the 60m (9.38), 100m (14.76), and 200m(33.52).
