Since May 25, 2004, Rep. Claudio K. Norita has highlighted the service of deployed U.S. military personnel from the CNMI. Every Tuesday and Thursday on page three of the Saipan Tribune, Norita’s office sponsors an ad campaign celebrating the service of US military personnel hailing from Saipan, Tinian and Rota.

Norita’s ad campaign, dubbed “CNMI Heroes: Fighting against tyranny, defending freedom and democracy,” is also co-sponsored by House Speaker Benigno R. Fitial, Vice Speaker Timothy P. Villagomez, and Rep. Ray N. Yumul.

Norita and his colleagues are sponsoring the ads to pay tribute to the service and sacrifices of CNMI residents who have enlisted in the U.S. armed forces and are stationed overseas. “I think it is very important for us to recognize the patriotic contributions of our local servicemen and women, and let them know how much we care about them, so that their morale remains high.”

As part of this morale boosting campaign, Norita’s office continues to invite family members of deployed U.S. servicemen to submit names and photographs of loved one currently serving abroad, particularly in Afghanistan and Iraq. All information should be referred to Norita’s office for publication (664-8987).
