Hitters, Ngarbuuns, and Servistar lead the way in Belau

With about two-thirds of the season behind them, the men and women who are ahead in the standings in the Belau Softball Leagues are certainly creating some space between themselves and those who are trailing.

It is evident in the Men’s A Division that the Ngarbuuns A’s are cruising toward a first place finish with a record of 9-2, but not all that far behind are the Brotherhood (7-3) and Wells Fargo Ready Mix (6-5).

From there it gets a little iffy for teams wishing to take this year’s prize, as the D.O.K. SoFang (5-4), Verizon Peliliu (5-5), PHI Pharmacy Belias (2-9), and Safety 1st Anguar Comets (1-9) round out the list of soon to be named also rans.

The Men’s B Division is now in control of Servistar. With a record of 9-1 and a game in hand over the second place Recruits (8-3), Servistar is sitting pretty atop the seven-team pool.

Waiting in the wings are the 7-3 PIDC Oreon Bombers. There is still enough time for the Bombers to pull out a pennant, but the same cannot be said for some of the teams in lower echelon.

MarPac Melekeor (5-5), Ngardmau (5-7), Ngarchelong (3-7), and the P.I.C. Boys (2-10) will have to wait for next year to be the regular season champs, but that’s no reason not to enjoy the barbeques at Dan Dan Field.

The Women’s Division is engulfed in a four-team race for first, and for the time being, it is the Cong. Ada Hitters (10-1) in front by a game. The three teams that have the Hitters in their sights are the Verizon Mix-A-Lot (9-2), D.O.K. Yeel Me Ngang (8-4), and the Odes Angels (8-4).

These four should make it an exciting race to the finish while the remaining five should enjoy what’s left of the season and hope to be better next year.

Cong. Guerrero Meta Ferry (4-7), Toyota Running Rebels (4-7), Cong Norita (4-8), Ballaz (4-8), Lady Comets (2-9), and the Verizon Hit-Run (1-11) gave their best, but their best wasn’t good enough against the likes of the Hitters, Mix-A-Lot, D.O.K. and Angels.

Weather permitting, the Belau Softball League will return to the Dan Dan Softball Field this Saturday and Sunday.
