Veteran runner Jung Young Kim continued to solidify himself as one of the top distance runners in the Commonwealth, topping the 5,000M event in last Saturday’s National Track and Field Championships at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field facility.

Kim was overpowering and dominant throughout the 12.5-lap race, streaming past the finish in 18 minutes and 41.8 seconds and beating second place finisher Chang Whan Jang by over two minutes.

For his part, Jang—the only other competitor—clocked in at 21 minutes and 17.6 seconds.

According to the Northern Marianas Track and Field Federation, the National meet is scheduled to conclude this afternoon with the 4X100M and 4X400M relays.

With that, the facility would be closed to the general public until 6:30pm.
