With a little relief from the rain over the past few days, the ball fields at the Oleai Sports Complex have had enough time to dry out, and that was great news for teams in the 2004 Men’s Island Wide Slow Pitch Softball League as they took to the diamond for the first time in almost two weeks.

Monday night featured a triple-header as Verizon challenged Fadang, Island Mix faced off with Exclusive, and Brotherhoot battled Da Boyz. Verizon was after their first win, and they got it by vanquishing Fadang 14-3 in the first game of the night. Fadang suffered their third straight loss to drop them to 0-3, while Verizon joined the ranks of the victorious, going from last place to ninth.

The second game had the 1-1 Island Mix going toe-to-toe with an untested Exclusive squad. The teams went blow for blow, but the Mix were on the winning end of a 27-21 slugfest. With the win, Island Mix (2-1) moved past Team Juan Santiago (1-1), but Team JS has a chance to tie it up again tomorrow night when they face Bring It On (0-2).

In the final game of the night, Brotherhoot put a beating on Da Boyz to the tune of 10 runs in a 13-3 trouncing. This is the second win for the Hoot, who also moved past Team JS alongside Island Mix. Da Boyz dropped their second straight decision, and now share the company of the league’s other winless wonders, Exclusive, Bring It On, and Fadang.

There’s plenty more softball action on the way, as Slow Pitch returns tonight, and every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting with the first game at 6:30pm. The Fast Pitch hits the diamond at the same time on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
