Woman hurt in hit-and-run
A woman was injured after being hit by a vehicle that fled the scene last Friday along Beach Road San Antonio.
DPS acting public information officer Captain Pete C. Muna said yesterday that according to the victim, 23-year-old Guiying Chen, she was walking west on the crosswalk from UIC Garment when the incident occurred.
“The victim stated that there was no vehicle approaching her on the highway,” he said. She crossed the highway alone and when she reached the southbound lane, she heard a vehicle approaching. When she looked north, she saw a vehicle already close to her and approaching quickly.”
Muna said the vehicle then struck Chen and left her unconscious for a while.
Medics summoned to the scene immediately took Chen to the Commonwealth Health Center. She sustained a deep laceration on her right abdomen, lacerations on her right ankle, left knee and right leg, and an abrasion on her left foot. She underwent X-ray and CT scan and was placed in the trauma room.
Muna said a witness claimed to have seen a dark-colored sedan hitting the victim. The witness indicated that the victim went airborne and landed on the center lane after being struck by the vehicle.
According to the witness, the sedan slowed down shortly after striking the victim, then fled the scene, heading south at high speed.
The incident has been placed under investigation. It was reported at 9:54pm.
