The ongoing 2004 UFO-San Miguel Cup semifinals was finally set for intense action yesterday with all four slots filled after FASA-CNC Inc. pounded SMF-Seabridge last Friday, but all hopes of taking the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium hard court were hampered by the strong winds and dangers imposed from Typhoon Chaba.

Left with no choice, league officials announced that both semifinal matches were to be rescheduled and played at a later date.

With the win, FASA earned the right to play Visminda-Country in the semis. FASA has a shot at not only advancing to the season finale, but also avenging their loss to Visminda a week ago.

The other half of the semifinals feature RP Cabalen-Transamerica/ECC Comm. taking on SIP-Verizon.

Meanwhile, the Inter Restaurant Basketball League semifinal bout between pennant champion Cappricciosa and Jollibee originally scheduled to be played tonight has been postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday.

According to league officials, Wednesday’s originally scheduled bout between Angel Wings and Country House will be played on Friday.

Chaba was said to have maximum sustained winds of 105 mph with gusts to 125 mph was expected to intensify as it closed in on the Marianas yesterday.

The storm was 135 miles southeast of Saipan.
