Belau Softball Association looking for volunteers
With the about three-quarters of the season behind them, the men and women of the Belau Softball Association were cruising through the schedule before the rainy season and a storm named Chaba came along, and now they are going to wait for another week before getting back underway.
BSA president Newman Techur announced that this weekend’s softball games in the men’s and women’s divisions are cancelled due to the damage sustained to the facility in Dan Dan.
“We need to regroup, rebuild the scorer’s box, and make some repairs to the infield before we will be ready to go for next weekend,” said Techur.
Techur said that he has enlisted the effort of some of the league’s players and volunteers from the community to aid in the effort to return the field to its condition prior to the destructive storm.
Although some have notified him that they will donate their time, Techur said that anyone who would like to help them repair the damage to the Dan Dan softball field will be more than welcome to pitch in.
On Tuesday morning, Aug. 31, the BSA will begin the restoration of Dan Dan field at 9am, and anyone who is interested in more information about the BSA or in lending a hand can call Techur at 234-0173 or 288-2065. (Brad Ruszala)
