Budlight sends Mostales to New York
The Marianas Pacific Distributors Inc. will be sending two people from Saipan in an all-expense paid trip to New York City on Sept. 4-10, to take part in the ESPN 25th Anniversary Party.
“There were over a 100 people that showed up at the Joeten Shopping Center in Susupe,” said promotions coordinator Nathan Sablan.
Despite the long wait for the last two contestants to arrive, it was just the right time for Sid Mostales to take his turn on the sling shot, which gave him the opportunity to win the coveted prize—a chance to witness two baseball games and ESPN’s 25th anniversary party in the Big Apple.
“I’ve been buying Budweiser for the past few days, but I didn’t have it with me. When I went in to Joeten and bought Budweiser, she [Kay Moses] said that I should sign up and play,” said Mostales.
“I have no idea who to take with me. There is no one yet on the list, because my nephew [Joey Mostales] is going to be leaving for training next week,” he added.
Several participants came close to the target, with Dave Palacios coming in second place.
Other participants in the event included Phil Pickarell, Christy Lizama, and Nick Muna, among others.
Participants had to have any Bud Light ESPN gear on hand to register to participate. During registration, participants were asked if they are 21 years or older and if they are eligible to travel to the United States
The game involved shooting a rubber ball to the Budlight target that stood some 80 feet away from the standing point.
“The object of the game is to use the Bud Light launcher to shoot Bud Light balls. The person who lands their Bud Light bean-bag closest to the target wins the grand prize,” Marpac said.
According to Sablan, Mostales and a guest will be joined with two winners from Guam and their guest, along with three to four chaperones from the Marpac company on Guam.
The hosts also indicated that while in New York, the winner and a guest will also get a chance to see a Major League Baseball game between the New York Yankees against the Phillidelphia Phillys, and New York Mets against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The two will also get a tour of the Budweiser Newark Brewery. (Cassie DLG Fejeran)
