After being appointed as consultant to the National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association, Norman del Rosario disclosed that local riders may compete in the upcoming 2004 Camel Supercross Championship Series in the Philippines.

“Because the [Federation Internationale de Motorcycisme] and NAMSSA have plans of including Saipan in its circuit, local riders are eligible to participate in the event,” he said.

The event kicks off with its first round scheduled to be held at the Roxas City Indoor Stadium from Sept. 18-19, with Sept. 17 scheduled as practice day.

Following the action in Roxas City is another leg in Bacolod City. The Series will then close, crowning its champion in its final leg at Iloilo City.

Glenn Aguilar, the 2003 Asian Supercross Champion, will defend his crown at the event. He is the seven-time champion of the Philippines.

Del Rosario explained that the event is highly competitive, also featuring ranked riders from within the FIM circuit.

“This is an international race series that includes FIM riders also,” he said. “It will be a great experience for any rider to participate in.”

Del Rosario said that because of his newly appointed position with NAMSSA—appointment was made official last Monday—interested riders may contact him to process FIM licenses.

“That’s one advantage that we now have. Now, riders can contact me and we can work on processing their licenses so that they can compete in the event. We can also work out on finding a place to stay. That can also be processed with NAMSSA. It will be great to a have group stay together,” he said.

Interested riders can contact del Rosario by email at namssa.spn@vzpacifica.net.
