Verizon Micronesia has donated cell phones and airtime for the American Red Cross-CNMI Chapter’s Typhoon Chaba relief efforts on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.

The Red Cross, during disasters, depends on high quality communications to link its disaster volunteers.

Verizon has always supported the Red Cross and other community groups in times of need.

“We are so thankful for the generosity of Verizon. They can always be counted on when people are in need,” said John Hirsh, executive director of the NMI Chapter. Verizon, through the assistance of Russ Quinn and his staff, provided emergency access to additional phones lines at the Red Cross Chapter office as well as several extra cell phones with airtime.

“When disaster strikes, the Red Cross needs to respond quickly. Verizon worked overtime to meet our most critical communications needs and we are most grateful. Their landline and cellular network was up and running throughout the storm. This is the kind of dependability that is important to the Red Cross,” said Hirsh.
