NFL off and running
The 39th season of the National Football League kicked off this past week with a rematch of last year’s clash of the AFC titans when the Indianapolis Colts galloped into Gillette Stadium to challenge the defending champion Patriots.
The results were the same on Thursday as they were in January, as the Son’s of Liberty edged past the horseshoes 27-24 when the Colts’ 48-yard field goal attempt sailed wide right off the leg of Mike Vanderjagt.
The red, white, and blue clad gridiron warriors are picking up right where they left off, but do they have what it takes to repeat as Superbowl Champions? If not, what squad has the balanced offense, defense, and special teams units to hoist the Lombardi trophy this February, in Jacksonville, FL.?
“It’s going to be the Patriots because they have a good running game now that they picked up Corey Dillon. They have everything actually—it’s a total package. I’m sure that they’ll play the Philadelphia Eagles in the Superbowl, but the Patriots will definitely win the whole thing.”

“My team is the 49ers ever since the Joe Montana days, but I don’t think that they’re going anywhere this year. I don’t really know who will do it, but I tend to go for the underdog, so I’m going with the Panthers. Hey, they almost won it last year.”

“I’m looking at the Patriots, but I like the underdogs, so I’ll take the Cowboys this year. They have a veteran quarterback in Vinny Testaverde, a quality running back in Eddie George, and great receivers with Keyshawn Johnson and Joey Galloway. On the other hand, the Eagles have the Freak (Jevon Kearse), Donovan McNabb, and Terrell Owens. It’s tough to say.”
Jonathan Tenorio
D9ers
“Oh, it’s going to be the Chiefs this year. Why? Because Gunther (Cunningham) is going to revive the defense. Now we’ll have an electrifying “D” to go with our explosive offense. Oh, did I mention that I’m from K.C.?”
John Cramer

“I’m not sure yet because it’s going to be close, but I think that it’ll probably be the Patriots. They’ve already won it twice so they can probably make it again with all of the experience that they have over the competition.”
